3D Illustrations

We are currently making a range of 3D paper sculptures and puppets based on our illustrations. We use coloured paper, and pattens paper to create our designs. We plan out the design in 2D form first and then covert it into a 3D form starting with the basic shape and adding more detailed elements from there.

We reference from real life and photographs to make our paper objects as life like as possible, experimenting with different textured and patterned papers to create areas of interest. Recently we have designed a set of paper fruit, cakes and bakes. We like the objects to have a tactile feel so we play with using beads, buttons and shinny embossed paper to give them texture.

We have also created a set of paper objects that are interactive. The paper suitcase comes with a paper passport, hat, clothing and mini paper luggage tags that can all be stored with the different compartments of the suitcase. We enjoy creating paper objects and sculptures that are beautifully presented as well as playful and fun to explore.

Yoga Gorilla

4 pages for a picture-book we have created about a gorilla who is a little bit different. A feel-good story about acceptance and daring to be different. The story follows a gorilla who is not like the other gorillas. He doesn’t beat his chest and charge around. Our gorilla is gentle, calm and thoughtful. His great passion is yoga. Our gorilla loves meditating and preforming relaxing exercises, he just wishes he had someone to share his day with. The other tough weight lifting gorillas think he’s strange and most of the time our gorilla is on his own. Until one day he meets a new friend and learns that its ok to be a little bit different.

Jungle activity book finished outcome.

We have been working on a jungle themed activity book for children. We have included lots of activities ranging from designing a jungle character to drawing a hot-air balloon and matching games. Each page is fully illustrated in coloured pencil and digital collage and there is also plenty of space for children to design their own characters.

We have experimented with each page layout so that some scenes flow across a double page spread (much like a picture book page) and others are more detailed single pages, packed full of activities.

We wanted to make the activity book playful and a bit quirky, so we have developed two witty animal characters to guide you around the activities. We have made it like a story, with the characters going from one place to another, so each page is different and exciting. We have also included craft activities to get children creative, such a making a mask and designing paper bunting.

Jungle games page. Children can match the animals to the sound they make and help Pipkin the pig count all the butterflies.

Creating a Activity book

We are creating a jungle themed activity book filled with puzzles, drawing pages and make your own masks. We have chosen to witty characters to guid you though the pages- Pipkin the pig in his spotty top and bow tie and Dave the Dog with his comic print jacket and blue glasses. Our characters are often amusing and we use pattens and textiles on the clothing to make them relatable. In our activity book Pipkin and Dave journey through the jungle in a hot air balloon, guiding the reader to each activity. We wanted lots of drawing and making activities to engage the child so we have designed make your own postcards, make a piggy mask, design a hot air balloon and DIY party bunting. We have also designed finding and spotting pages, hiding lots of jungle animals within the pages of the book for the child to spot.
